Loretta L. Ladner

Loretta L. Ladner, born November 22, 1928, a native of Dedeaux and, as an adult, a life long resident of the Lizana Community, passed away Wednesday, January 5, 2011, in Gulfport at the age of 82.
Mrs. Ladner was devoted to her family and accomplished in many professions during her life. She was a seamstress, substitute teacher, school bus driver, and self-employed grocery store owner of ""Loretta's Grocery"" on Highway 53.
Mrs. Ladner was a wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph J. Ladner and Madie S. Ladner, husband, Carvis ""Butcher"" Ladner, and two sons, Jesse ""Jake"" Ladner and Billy J. Ladner, brothers, Stanley Ladner, Colin Ladner, Olen Ladner, J. C. Ladner, and Kermit Ladner,
Loretta is survived by a son, C. J. Ladner of Slidell, Louisiana, a loving and devoted daughter and caregiver Dale Ladner of Lizana and a brother, Sherman Ladner of Gulfport. Mrs. Ladner has six grandchildren, Michele Mills, Brian Ladner, Shain Ladner, Jessica Saunders, Travis Ladner and Tyler Ladner. Great grandchildren include Hayden and Brady Mills, Katie, Josh, and Andrew Ladner; her daughters-in-law, Norma Ladner, Cathy Ladner, and Beverly Ladner; and many nieces and nephews. As a lady who loved children, Loretta also cared for several foster children over the years.
In her earlier years, Loretta was an active member of St. Ann's Catholic Church, who spent many years volunteering and fundraising for CYO youth dances and other youth activities in the community.
Her courage in life inspired all who knew her. She will be missed and loved by all.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 7, 2011, from 6pm-8pm at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11213 Highway 49 North in Gulfport.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 8, 2011, at 10:00am at St. Ann Catholic Church, in Lizana. Interment will follow at Wolf River Cemetery.
