Loraine Gates Topp, age 93 and a resident of Slidell, LA, died on Thursday, April 26, 2012, in Slidell.
Mrs. Topp was born in Memphis, TN on December 18, 1918. She graduated from Bartlett High School in Bartlett, TN. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church for 44 years in Gulfport, where she was active in the United Methodist Women's Club, various garden clubs, and the Joppa Shrine Temple Women's Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John S. Topp, Jr.; her son, J. Shelby Topp, III; her brother, Harold G. Gates, Jr. and her sister, Mary G. Craig.
Mrs. Topp is survived by her children, Betty T. (Joseph D.) Calahan, and Richard G. (Debra T.) Topp; her sister, Billie G. (David L.) Clokey; her grandchildren, Cheri C. (Matthew P.) Work, Christine C. (Jason S.) Smith, Shelby G. (Zheng Z.) Topp, Lindsey A. Topp, and Wesley C. Topp and her great grandchildren, Abby Work, Cooper Smith, Courtney Smith, and Connor Smith.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2012, at 2:00pm at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road in Gulfport, where family and friends may visit one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Floral Hills Cemetery in Gulfport.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Trinity United Methodist Church in Gulfport or the Walk to End Alzheimer's at www.alz.org, under the Camelia Gardens Team, Betty Calahan.
