Lona Chase
July 19, 1946 — January 18, 2019
Lona Blanche McCollister Chase, age 72, of Chunky MS, passed away peacefully at home after a long illness on Friday, January 18, 2019.
Lona was born July 19, 1946 to Donna Roberts "Jackie" McCollister and Emmitt B. McCollister and raised in Pass Christian, MS. She lived in Mississippi, North Dakota, Wisconsin, Louisiana, Tennessee, Florida, and California. She even worked as a civilian on McMurdo Station, Antarctica, while her husband Rich was stationed there with the United States Navy.
She loved to research family history, garden, crochet, read, cook, shop (especially for bargains), collect antiques and unique treasures, travel, spend time with friends and family, and go to New Prospect Camp Meeting every year.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Benny J. McCollister; and sister, Choyce (Missy) McCollister.
Lona is survived by her loving husband of 27 years, Richard Chase; children, Ray Mariucci II (Patty), Robert Mariucci (Donna), Richard Chase (Heather), Robin Mariucci, Robert Chase, Richalle Close (Scott), and John Glidden. She had 13 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life Service was held on Thursday, January 24, 2019, at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, Vancleave, MS, with burial followed in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made for the upkeep of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church and grounds.
RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, was in charge of arrangements.
