Lois Rushing

Lois “Eloise” Padgett Rushing, age 94, a lifelong resident of Woolmarket, peacefully passed to her eternal heavenly home, April 14, 2020.

Lois was born in Ponchatoula, Louisiana. She was a member of the Coalville United Methodist Church for 50 years, where she taught Sunday school and Bible school. She would collect all the Woolmarket kids and take them to Bible school. She loved teaching the kids with flannel graph stories of the Bible. Later in life she was a member of the White Plains United Methodist Church.

Lois was employed with J.C. Penney, while her husband served in WWII, years later she also worked at Zayre for a short period of time and she was a caretaker for Mrs. Moody, owner of Moody’s Restaurant in Gulfport until Mrs. Moody passed away. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, sewing and her crafts.

Mrs. Rushing was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years and her childhood sweetheart, O.J. Rushing; her parents, Jesse and Grace Padgett; her brother, Harold Padgett; and her sister, Lurline Smith.

Lois is survived by her daughters, Bonnie Mount, Jan Mitchell, Nena Rushing, and Lana Rushing; her 5 grandchildren, Dawn (Ronald) Tubb, Kevin (Ginny) Mitchell, Tiffany (Mike) Hodge, Lori (Raymond) Pelanne, and Nikki Gough; 12 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.

She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved all her family unconditionally.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Canonhospice.com, who so graciously took loving care of our sweet mother during the last 4 days of her life.

Due to the circumstances a private service will be held April 18, 2020. Burial will follow at Coalville Cemetery.
