Lisa Michelle Johnson, age 52 passed away peacefully on June 5, 2021, due to diabetes and hypertensive cardiomyopathy. She was born December 20, 1968, in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan to William and Marilynn Soden. She was married to Lawrence John Johnson from 1991 until their divorce in 2016.
Lisa loved to care for people, no matter they were acquainted or a stranger. She had a heavy heart for anyone who was hurting. Although her children had outgrown her motherly love and care, she continued to carry that love in her heart and was often eager to present it to strangers in need. She was selfless in her actions, often lending the last of her anything to others, and always worrying about the needs of others before her own, especially when it came to the lives of her children.
For many years, Lisa worked as a billing and coding specialist at Memorial Hospital. Prior to that, she worked security at the Island View Casino and Resort and before that, pharmacy at Walgreens as well as an associate at Sam's Club Warehouse. If asked the secret to a fulfilling life, she'd say, "Treat others as you'd like to be treated, and expect nothing in return."
Her life was a living example of Ephesians 4:32- "And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ."
Lisa is survived by her mother, Marilynn Soden of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.
She was preceded in death by her father, William Soden of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan; her children, Michelle Johnson of Gulfport, MS and Ryan Johnson of Gulfport, MS; her brothers, William Soden of Traverse City, Michigan and Michael Soden of Greenville, SC; her sister, Terri Cremeans of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan; as well as many nieces, nephews, and in-laws. She loved and touched all of them deeply.
A memorial service was held June 18, 2021 at Michael Memorial Baptist Church, Gulfport, MS.
"But I know you're in a place where all your wounds have been erased and knowing yours are healed is healing mine."
RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, Gulfport, is serving the family.
