Linda Juanita 'Nita' Tyner - age 87, passed away peacefully in Ocean Springs, MS, on Friday, December 15, 2023.
She was born to Irry J. and Lillie B. Dunnaway in Tylertown, MS and moved to Biloxi, when she and her twin sister were 5 years old. She graduated from Biloxi High School, Class of 1955.
She met the love of her life, Ed, at the skating rink in Biloxi and they were married in October 1956 for 62 years until his passing.
She was a homemaker and then in 1989, helped our family open T&N Feed and Pet Supplies where she loved talking to all of our customers and always had a kind word for everyone. Then, in 1997, she co-wrote a short story book with her twin, Neicy, about their childhood.
She had a strong faith and great love for the Lord and enjoyed sharing it with everyone. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Irry J. and Lillie B. Dunnaway; her husband Ed Tyner; a son Tommy Tyner; son-in-law Timothy Myers; two sisters, Nava Lou Rose and Dorothy Seib; three brothers Dewey Dunnaway, Doyle Dunnaway and Buddy Dunnaway.
She is survived by her twin sister Neicy Felsher; a son Scott (Elizabeth) Tyner; a daughter Sherry (Jason) Gillenwater; and daughter-in-law Julie Tyner. The family would like to thank her caregivers from the past few months for their compassion and care; Mrs. Gwen, Mrs. Lora, Ms. Anne, Nikki, Tonya, Liz, Melissa and Crystal, as well as the staff from Traditions Hospice and Arden Hospice.
The following poem was written by her twin Neicy and is published in their book:
TWINS
"The Poem"
The day I was born was a special affair;
I made my entrance as half of a pair.
The world was fuzzy and I couldn't see,
But I heard them say, she looked just like me.
Life back then just never seemed fair,
Everything I had, I had to share.
Daddy made us dress, one like the other.
Why couldn't my twin have been a brother!
We'd finally agree on how to fix our hair.
But then another battle, what would we wear?
Another argument and she would win.
Her blouse had the button and mine the pin.
Her socks would be damp but mine would be damper.
It was always my clothes in the dirty-clothes hamper.
I’d be walking around in just one shoe,
She was always lucky, she’d found her two.
No one noticed, there were two, in spite of my trouble,
For they only thought they were seeing double.
“Which Twin Has The Toni” was a favorite expression.
When the boys were trying to make an impression.
School days began, my fears would subside,
As long as I had her right by my side,
And hoping the teacher would never discern,
She was giving the answer, when it was my turn.
Daddy would give out the medicine,
One time would suffice.
But not for me, I got it twice!
The foolishness I felt but,
rather than explain,
When I’d go on and answer when
Called by her name.
Even so:
Life’s most precious memories have been,
Priceless treasures because of my twin.
Private family services will be held for "Nita" with burial next to her husband at Coalville Cemetery.
