Linda Griffin

Ms. Linda Wright Griffin, age 75 and a resident of Biloxi, passed away quietly in her sleep after a two year battle with cancer.
She was born on July 7, 1932, and reared in Moss Point. She lived most of her adult life in the Biloxi/D'Iberville area. Ms. Griffin was a night auditor and dest clerk at many of Biloxi's hotels and motels during the past half century. She was on duty at the Sun 'N Sand Motel on Hwy 90 in Biloxi the night Hurricane Camille came ashore, and with her new born daughter, Chrissy, in her arms, she escaped the flood water and rode out the storm at an apartment complex behind the motel. She was a faithful employee and worked the last 20 years at the Biloxi Travel Inn, right up to the day she was hospitalized in May 2005. She loved to sew, crochet, garden, cook, and fish.
Ms. Griffin was preceded in death by her parents, Merrill Alford Wright and Macie Robinson Wright; a brother, Merrill Alford Wright, Jr.; an infant daughter, Donna Jo Griffin; and a son, Robin (Robbie) Clayton Griffin.
Survivors include a son, Timothy Merrill Griffin, of Vancleave; a daughter, Audrey Christina Mechanic; six grandchildren, John Wesley Mechanic III, Kristen Lynn Mechanic, Angel Marie Mechanic, Burgandy Rose Mechanic, Harlan Scott Mechanic, and Summer Pearl Mechanic, all of Biloxi; and her sister and brother-in-law, Elaine and James Smelley, of Moss Point.
Visitation will be at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 274 Beauvoir Road, Biloxi, on Friday, October 19, 2007, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 20, in the funeral home chapel, followed by burial in Machpelah Cemetery in Pascagoula.
