Linda Strange Galloway

Linda Strange Galloway, age 77, passed away on December 17, 2024. She was born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, in 1947. Her father's Air Force service brought the family to Biloxi, Mississippi in the early 1950's, where she graduated from Biloxi High School in 1965.

Linda pursued higher education, earning a Bachelor of Arts from Mississippi University for Women in 1969, a Master of Education from William Carey University in 1979, and completing specialized graduate studies at the University of Southern Mississippi until 1981.

She was an English teacher who was loved and respected by her students and her fellow teachers. She taught grades 7-12 in the Biloxi School District from 1972 to 1999, with a brief period teaching at Thompson High School in Alabaster, Alabama, from 1984 to 1985. She had a passion for plays and little theater productions and retired from teaching in 1999.

Linda was a lifelong Methodist and was a member of several Methodist churches on the coast. She loved singing, and always joined her church's choir. Her other passions were reading, cross-stitching and her pets. 

She is preceded in death by her husband, Zane Galloway; parents, James F Strange and Julia Veach Strange; sister, Julia S. Carter; and brother in law, Raymond J. Carter.

She is survived by her nephew, James L. Bonnett (Gale) of Biloxi; niece, Lorena B. Weinkle (Scott) of Marietta, GA; and great-nieces, Ellen and Emily Weinkle.

A visitation will be held on from 12:00 – 1:00 pm Monday, December 23, 2024 at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 274 Beauvoir Rd. Biloxi, MS 39531, followed by a graveside service at 1:30 at Biloxi National Cemetery, 400 Veterans Ave. Biloxi, MS.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Humane Society of South Mississippi.
