Lillie Humphreys

Lillie Etta Humphreys, age 83, a resident of the Claiborne Assisted Living in Gulfport (1/31/22 - 12/15/22), passed away on Thursday, December 15, 2022, at 11:25pm, in her home with her daughters Jennifer and Jeanne.

She was a native of Pass Christian, MS for 66 years, rebuilding in Long Beach, MS after Hurricane Katrina. She was the Valedictorian of Pass Christian High School in 1956. She worked for the Pass Christian School System as a Bookkeeper and served as Secretary of Pass Christian High School while her children attended, and Secretary at Keesler Air Force Base.  Her hobbies included crocheting, flower arranging, and loving her family.

Mrs. Humphreys was a lifetime member of Trinity Episcopal Church of Pass Christian, serving on the Altar Guild and the budget committee.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 31 years, Richard J. “Jerry” Humphreys, Sr.; her parents, Joseph and Viola Carco; her son, Richard J. Humphreys, Jr.; and her grandson, Dustin Taylor.

She is survived by her children, Jeanne Devenport (Richard) of Pass Christian, MS, Jennifer Jermyn (Frank) of Vancleave, MS, Janell Belton (Brent) of Brandon, MS, and Jason Humphreys (Vickie) of Tylertown, MS; her grandchildren, Jerry Taylor, Ashley Taylor, Perry Devenport, Ethan Humphreys, Emma Humphreys, Joshua Humphreys, Jenna Belton and Elizabeth Jones; her great-grandchildren, Dylan Taylor, Daydon Taylor, Rozalyn Taylor, Brandon Taylor Dukes and Honor King; her siblings, Woodrow Carco, Betty Bishop (Robert), Vivian Doherty, and Frona Beardon (Don); and her 10 Nieces and Nephews, including Vickie Bernard (Nate), her God Daughter.

Friends are invited to join the family for visitation and services at Trinity Episcopal Church, 125 Church Ave., Pass Christian, MS on Wednesday, December 21, 2022.  Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., with the funeral service at 11:00 a.m.  Mrs. Humphreys will be laid to rest at Live Oak Cemetery.
