Lewis Irvine Davis, age 77, of Diamondhead, MS, died on Wed., Feb. 14.
He was a resident for 4 years after moving from his farm in Jay, OK. Lewis was born in Hazard, KY, moving as a child to Lynch, KY, a small coal mining town in the heart of the Appalachians. He and his wife, Helen, grew up together and would be married 56 yrs. on Feb. 28. He was a 1958 graduate of the University of KY, majoring in accounting, and remained a staunch booster of U.K. sports. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rose and Irvine Davis, and a sister; Patsy Cook; father and mother-in-law, Joseph and Garnet Prather.
Survivors are devoted wife, Helen; daughter and son-in-law, Rachael and Don Overton, Jonesburg, MO; son and daughter-in-law, John and Jan Davis, Neosho, MO; granddaughters, Jordan Davis, Joy Arnall, and great-grand-daughter, Jaice Kent, all of Neosho, MO; brothers-in-law and wives, William and Jean Prather, Dayton, Ohio, James S. and Debbie Prather, St. Charles, MO, nieces and nephews.
Lewis spent his last years dedicated to his spiritual program of helping others and spoke openly of God's many blessings. His enduring love for Helen and his children was well known by all who knew him.
Memorial services will be at the St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 5303 Diamondhead Circle, Diamondhead, MS 39525, Sat., Feb.17 at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, kindly send a donation to Odyssey Hospice, 9414 Three Rivers Road, Suite 3, Gulfport, MS 39503.
