Leslie B. Smith, age 58, of Diamondhead, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2011, surrounded by family at home after a courageous two year battle with breat cancer. She was born August 11, 1952 in Brooklyn, NY to Sherman and Abby Nanes. Leslie had the gift of hospitality and a vivacious personality that made everyone feel welcomed and loved. There were no strangers in her life. She enjoyed travel, fishing, family, and her passion was making each and every person feel special.
She was married to Alan B. Smith on September 17, 1978 in Fort Pierce, FL. They would have celebrated their 33rd wedding anniversary this year. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Jed T. Smith and Rachel A. Smith.
She was preceded in death by her father, Sherman Nanes and brother, Jeffery Nanes.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 29, 2011, at Diamondhead Community Church at 2:00 p.m.
