Leonard Richard (Dick) Sierveld, age 84 of Diamondhead, MS, passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2009.
Leonard, born in Cincinnati, OH, was a WWII Navy Veteran. He followed in his fatheraÌ‚â‚â„¢s footsteps in the grocery business. He was employed by Winn Dixie Food Stores for 37 years, and held the position of Meat Merchandiser for 25 years before retiring.
Leonard Sierveld was preceded in death by his father, Leonard; mother, Helen; and sister, Anne Jung. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Dorothy Sierveld; brother, Warren Sierveld and wife Beverly; sister-in-law, Etheleen Johnson; son, Rick Sierveld and wife Mary Alice; daughter, Kathleen Jo Lorio and husband, George; grandchildren, Brandon and Lindsay Jo Lorio; and godchild, Sherry Draeger.
Leonard loved many sports. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed snow skiing, water skiing, and sailing. Leonard cherished his family and friends, but most importantly his two grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2009 at Diamondhead Baptist Church, Diamondhead, MS where family and friends may visit from 12:00 pm until service time at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Picayune, MS.
