Leonard Axel Carlson, age 89, of Diamondhead, passed away on Thursday, October 25, 2018.
Leonard was born in Little Falls, MN to Axel and Esther Carlson. He graduated from Little Falls High School in 1947, and a few years later met Jo Anne Kainz Carlson. They were married in 1958 and moved to Cottage Grove where they raised three sons. Later they moved to Northern Minnesota before retiring to the South.
He was always an active member of his community and made friends quickly. He was very involved in the Church and was a veteran of the Korean War. He enjoyed playing golf his entire life with all of his friends around the country, but mostly with his wife, Jo Anne. If you didn't find him on a golf course you could find him in a casino playing Black Jack or a Slot Machine!
He is preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Jo Anne Kainz Carlson; his parents; and three siblings, Veryl (Dale) Connors, George (Marjorie) Mokler, and Phyllis (Donald) Rhead.
He is survived by three sons, Thomas Andrew Carlson (Brenda) of MN, Timothy Axel Carlson (Laura) of MN, and Jeffry Leonard Carlson of Diamondhead; his only grandchild, Ashley Simat (Chris) of MN; and his granddog, Sam.
