Leo Alvin Braun

Leo Alvin Braun, 79, passed peacefully on March 26, 2011. He was born July 29, 1931 in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Leo is an Air Force veteran who served multiple overseas tours of duty. Leo's 22 years of distinguished military service includes the attainment of Senior Master Sergeant, receipt of the Bronze Star with one Oak Cluster, and numerous friendships.
After retiring from the Air Force, Leo began a second career as a Performance Manager with Johnson Controls at the Stennis Space Center. Leo was project leader at Johnson Controls when they won the Mississippi Governor's Quality Award in 1997. Leo was honored by Women in Community Service for establishing the Adopt a School and Mentorship Programs with the Gulfport Job Corp.
Leo is survived by his wife Michelle Braun, children Ric and Debbie Braun, Michael and Anna Arnold, Richard and Cipriana Walker, Leanne and Jeff Schneider, grandchildren April Braun, Brandi and Patrick Morgan, Brian Braun, Ricky and Kristina Walker; Caimen and Camille Schneider, Tito, Cristian, and Paula Morales, and five great grandchildren.
Leo will be greatly missed by his family and friends for his leadership, willingness to reach out to others and ability to make others feel welcome. A special thank you to the staff at Lakeview Nursing Home for their loving care for Leo and Michelle.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Depew Road, Gulfport. Visitation will be from 10 - 11 am. Interment will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens with full military honors.
