Lena Elizabeth """"Mimi"""" Walters Rowell, age 71 and a resident of Gulfport, passed away on Saturday, April 26, 2008, in Gulfport.
Mrs. Rowell was born in Laurel, MS. She was a member of Klein Road Church of God, a homemaker, a devoted wife, a loving mother and """"Mimi"""" to all who knew her. She knew it was better to give than receive and spent her life serving others. Her life was filled with serving others and much prayer.
Mrs. Rowell was preceded in death by her parents, John and Rena Walters; her son, Charles Kennon Rowell; her sister, Edith Esterling; and her brother, J.K. Walters.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Charles C. """"Buddy"""" Rowell of Gulfport, her children, Lisa Starner (Matthew) of Gulfport, and Greg Rowell (Shannon) of Saucier; her sisters, Elsie Herrington (James) of Gulfport, Derwood Walters of Laurel, Carlton Walters (Earline) of Bay Springs, and Billy Walters (Edith) of Stringer; her sister-in-law, Linda Herrington (Stan) of Laurel; six grandchilren, Lacey Rowell, Haley Rowell, Grayson Rowell, Kennon Rowell, Sumer Schenck, and William Mosley; her nieces and nephews Rachel Craig (Steve) , Hannah Craig, Stephanie Sellers (Mark), Eric Herrington (Daniell) , and other family and friends.
Graveside service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, May 1, 2008, at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Gulfport. The RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Rd., Gulfport, is in charge of the service.
