Leila Martha Yeiser Rishel of Long Beach, Mississippi went to her heavenly home January 7, 2011, after a long illness.
She was born February 22, 1924, to Mae and Roy Yeiser of Lebanon, Pennsylvania. She married Horace ""Smoakie"" Rishel on October 16, 1945, and soon moved to Long Beach to make her home. Leila was a member of Long Beach Church of the Nazarene and a lifelong disciple of Jesus Christ. She loved her children and babies and had a keen sense of humor. She was widowed in 2004.
Leila is survived by her seven children: Susan Smith of New Site, Alabama; Joe Rishel of Brandon; Ted Rishel of Arlington, Texas; Patti Gove of Katy, Texas; and Alice Collier, Rod Dickson-Rishel, and Tom Rishel of Long Beach. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
Profound gratitude is extended to the staff of the Boyington and Odyssey Hospice for a decade of tender care. Memorials are requested to the Children's ministry of First United Methodist Church of Long Beach.
A Service of Death and Resurrection will be held on Monday, January 10, 2011, at 3 PM at First United Methodist Church, Long Beach with visitation beginning at 1:30 PM. Interment will follow at Allen Cemetery in Long Beach.
The Riemann Family Funeral Home, 19130 Commission Road in Long Beach, is in charge of arrangements.
