Lee Washington Jackson, Jr, age 75, of Long Beach, passed away on July 14, 2022.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Eltrym White Jackson; his father, Lee Washington Jackson, Sr; 3 sisters, Virginia Chavous, Janette Zukhowski, and June Bailey; a brother, Edward Jackson; and 2 brothers-in-law, Jack Chavous and Joseph Zukowski.
Mr. Jackson is survived by 3 daughters, Sherrie Jackson Moretz, Danielle (Brett) Spencer, and Caroline Jackson; 3 siblings, Ken Jackson, Diann Goodman, and Brenda Powell; a brother-in-law, J.B. Bailey; his grandchildren, Luis “Pedro” Jackson, Cydnee (Zachary) Seal, Christian C. Jackson Arnold, Leah Jane Notter, and Trent Spencer; his great-grandchildren, Alayna Jade Seal, Joseph Tyler Seal, and Asher-Kate Lee Seal; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
He was a native of Blakely, GA and was a long time resident of Long Beach. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War where he received the Good Conduct Medal and was a certified marksman (M-14). While in the Army, he briefly served as an officer candidate. Following his time in the Army, he worked at DuPont Chemical Plant where he later retired after many years of service.
Lee used to train, ride, and compete in horse jumping and he passed his love for horses to his oldest daughter. He enjoyed bow hunting, watching old westerns especially John Wayne movies, Mr. Jackson was an accomplished equestrian rider, he enjoyed going to the gym, and 4 wheeler riding. He was a member of Trinity Pentecostal Church and was proud to be a born again Christian and he was a member of the NRA.
Lee was a spunky, at times stubborn, resilient man. He grew up poor in Blakely, GA and was able to provide a good life for his daughters. He loved his children and grandchildren very much. He remained very active until the end of his life.
The family would like to say thank you to his neighbors, and friends: the Mallette’s, the Schmidt’s, Ms June, and his church family at Trinity Pentecostal Church. He loved and respected each one of you. You helped him keep his faith during trying times.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 20, 2022, from 3 - 5 pm at the Riemann Family Funeral Home, 19130 Commission Road, Long Beach. The funeral service will be at 5 pm in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be private at a later date.
