Leada Niolet

November 24, 1921 — March 23, 2021

Delisle

Leada Farragut Adam Niolet was born at home in Pass Christian on Thanksgiving Day, November 24, 1921, to Charles C. and Vesta Griffin Farragut. She helped her parents for the next two decades as they lovingly welcomed into their family 11 sisters and brothers, all of whom were born in the Farragut family home: Norma, Annie Lynn, Georgine, Cooper, David, Betty, Wallace, Dolphie, Alice, Grace, and Joe.
After graduation from Pass Christian High School, Leada and her husband Warren Adam began their own family of three children: Warren, Jean, and Ricky. Happily, there was no learning curve for Mama, as she had already helped her parents raise most of her siblings.
Once her children had all entered her much-loved school on Second Street in The Pass, Leada began working in the office at Pass High and later at Hancock Bank in Pass Christian where she made numerous friends and acquaintances. She retired in 1984 so that she and her second husband Herman Niolet could enjoy their home in Delisle, their large, combined family, and their many friends and travel-mates.
Leada passed away peacefully on March 23, 2021. She was an exemplary and dearly devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, aunt and cousin who will live on in the hearts of her loved ones.
During her life she said her own good-byes to her wonderful parents and to the following beloved siblings and their much-loved spouses: Dolphie Farragut, Norma "Pint" and husbands Delmore Bonney and Lou Cantrell, Annie and husband Junior Necaise, Genie and husband Elbert Vix, Cooper Farragut and wife Geri, David Farragut and wife Pat, Wallace Farragut and wife Diane.
Leada leaves to cherish her memory always: son, Warren H. Adam and children Elizabeth, Sarah, Gabie, Marie-Julie, Alexander, Cecile, Jeanne, and Nicholas, their loving spouses and precious children; daughter Jean Adam Burt and husband Tom and their sons Tom Burt, Jr. and his wife Sharyn; and Adam Heath Burt and his wife Stephanie and their wonderful children and son Rick Adam and wife Sally and daughters India and her husband Scott Simpson, Erin and her husband Steve Dewitt and their lovely children, and sons Terryl and Carter Bechtel and his wife Ann.
Because her life was a long, active, and healthy one, her grandchildren and great grandchildren were fortunate to able to know and love her dearly, as she did the 30 of them.
Mom's much loved younger sisters Alice and husband Tom Russell, Grace and former husband JD Necaise, sister Betty and husband Ed VanZandt and their children, her brother Joe Farragut and his wife Phyllis along with all their children and grandchildren continue on with their loving support of the Farragut family.
In addition, Leada leaves her loving husband Herman Niolet, his son David and wife Mae, and daughters and sons-in-law Margaret and Ray Scurfield, Judy and George Taffet, Lynn and Dale Scafidi, and daughter-in-law Ann VanZandt Niolet, wife of Mike.
Finally, she is survived by more than 100 precious nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The Mass of Christian Burial for Leada will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 26, 2021, at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church on Kiln-Delisle Road in Delisle, MS with the visitation for family and friends beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will be in the Niolet Family plot in the Old Delisle Cemetery.
