Lawrence """"Skeet"""" Starita, age 85 and a resident of Bay St. Louis, died Thursday, April 17, 2008, in Bay St. Louis. He has joined his wife, Aleciadell; parents, Laura and Benjamin; brothers, Louis and Benny; and sisters, Laura Ann, Josie, and Armina.
Skeet is survived by his seven children, L. E. """"Skip"""" Starita and his wife, Connie; Dell Marie Thompson and her husband, Gary, all of Pass Christian; Benny Starita and his wife, Carmen; Mike Starita and his wife, Becky; Randy Starita and his wife, Gayle, all of Bay St. Louis; Cathy Starita and partner, Stephanie Smith, of Bozeman, MT; Keith Starita and his wife, Elsie, of Long Beach; 19 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Skeet is also survived by his sister, Joy and her husband Joe Koniak, of Biloxi; his brother Salvador and his partner, Sylvia White, of Metairie, LA and numerous other relatives and friends.
Skeet was a native and lifelong resident of Bay St. Louis, and his greatest joy was his family and having his grandchildren around him. He taught at the Hancock County VoTech Center, was manager at the Pass Christian shipyard, and worked at the NASA Test Site. He built homes and boats, had bee hives, and loved to build things for the children.
Visitation will be at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 19130 Commission Road in Long Beach, on Sunday, April 20, 2008, from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in Gulfport.
