Lawrence “Larry” Willett, 63 of Gulfport, MS passed away on January 28, 2025 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 20,1961 at Warner Robbins Air Force Base in Georgia. Larry is preceded in death by his mother, Betty Walker; father, Nelson Willett; brother, Leslie Bigelow; sister, Theresa McQuillen; and nephew, Michael McQuillen.
Larry was a military son, and the family moved around throughout his younger years. When Larry was older and went out on his own, he was living in Florida. This is where Larry settled and raised his family in Lakeland, Florida. Afterwards, Larry moved to Michigan to pursue a job as an equipment operator. This is where he met, Marsha and they were married on September 30, 2007. Together, they lived in Michigan before moving to the Gulf Coast in 2009 to help with the rebuilding after Hurricane Katrina. Larry worked for Pipeline Services Inc out of Louisiana until he fell sick just a few years back. Larry was hardworking and was devoted to his work. Many construction workers and foreman were amazed by his quality of work.
Larry enjoyed being in the outdoors going fishing, and being on the boat. He also loved being on his property and having bonfires with family and friends which meant everything to him. Larry also had a love for being on his four-wheeler and dirt bikes, and especially teaching his children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews how to ride. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to so many. Larry had a laugh that could fill a room, and his enjoyment was sharing a beer and a story with his friends and family. We know that Larry’s spirit lives on in all of us, and his love for his family and friends remain with us. He will be remembered for the smile on his face, and joke that would come later. Larry, will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Larry is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Marsha Willett; step mother, Joy Willett; children, Charlie Willett, Chad (Kimberly) Willett, and Shanetta (Shannon) King; step children, Don (Sherry) White, Heather (Jon Michael) Clough; sister, Sheila Watson; and brother, Kenny (Michelle) Riddle; grandchildren, Shannon King Jr, Shae King, Shance King, Alesha King, Stetson Willett, Harper Willett, Connor White, Lilly White, and Jade Clough. Larry also leaves behind to cherish his memory 7 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and extended family.
Larry also leaves behind his beloved fur babies; “Sarge”, “Bijou Lolo”, “Misty River”, “Sascha”, and “Mochiko”.
A Celebration of Life for Larry is being planned for a later date.
