Laurie Nickell

August 4, 1915 — July 17, 2007

Mrs. Laurie Laurene Barnett Nickell was born August 4, 1915 in Chester, Arkansas, and died on July 17, 2007 in Ocean Springs at the age of 91.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of nearly 50 years, Clayton C. Nickell; her parents, Joseph S. and Ethel M. Barnett; four brothers, Clyde Barnett, Bert Barnett, Joe Barnett and Dwain Barnett; one sister, Frances Glen.
Mrs. Nickell is survived by her children, Shirley Mae Nickell of Garland, TX, Jeanette and Chuck Collins of Woolmarket, and C. Stephen Nickell of Gulfport. She is also survived by her grandhchildren, Shannon and David Winters of Simpsonville, SC, and Erin Lynn Collins of Woolmarket.
She loved and cherished her husband and family. She also loved working with her flowers, and until her illness became unmanageable, she was active in the New Hopers church group. Mrs. Nickell was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Gulfport.
Funeral services will be held at New Hope Baptist Church, 17430 Landon Road, Gulfport, on Friday, July 20, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. where friends may call one hour prior to services.
Burial will follow at Gulf Pines Memorial Gardens, 28th Street, Long Beach.
