Laurance Magee, age 99, resident of Gulfport, died on Saturday, December 29, 2007, in Gulfport.
Mrs. Magee was born Laurance Marie Delahoussaye, March 30, 1908, in Delcumbre, LA and was a resident of the coast for more than 84 years. Mrs. Magee was self employed as the owner of Olivers Grocery Store for over 60 years. She was a former member of the Moose Lodge and Krewe of Gemini where she reigned as Queen in 1972. She was a devout Catholic and member of the Altar Society at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.
Mrs. Magee is preceded in death by her husband, Oley Joseph Oliver of Biloxi, husband Cleon (Slim) Magee of McComb, MS; daughter, Janet Oliver Vidal of Gulfport; parents Olive Aucoin and Duplex Delahoussaye; brother, Nord Delahoussaye of New Iberia, LA; & sister, Dulcide (Tetaunt) Toups of Gulfport.
She is survived by a sister, Rose Moore of Abbeyville, LA; three grandchildren, Jo Ann Francingues and husband Kenny of Gulfport, Lynn Garrison and husband John of Gulfport, and Oley Joseph (Joe) Allen of Long Beach; six great grandchildren, Amanda (Mandi) Francingues of Baton Rouge, LA, Dennis Francingues and wife Jessica of Long Beach, David, Joey, John John Garrison of Gulfport and Carter Allen of Gulfport.
Mrs. Magee was appreciated, loved and respected by all who knew her. She will continued to be loved and missed by many.
Friends may visit Wednesday, Jan 2, 2008, from12-2:00 p.m. at St John Catholic Church. The Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m.. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
