Laura Clare Creel

Laura Clare Thompson Creel, our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, of Long Beach, passed away on February 11, 2012 at age 91 peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family.
A native of Biloxi, Laura was born on December 9, 1920, to her parents Christian A. Thompson and Laura Clare Caillavet Thompson. She was married to the late Cecil B. Creel, Sr. who also was born of another Old Biloxi family.
She is survived by four children-three daughters and one son: Diane C. Peranich (husband John), Karen C. Leary, Cecil B. Creel, Jr. (wife Alyson), and Laura Clare Creel; 10 grandchildren: John Peranich, Stephen Peranich, Daniel Peranich, Anthony Peranich, Tim Leary, Jr., Patrick Leary, Gannon Leary, Colleen Clare Leary, Laura Clare Holloway, and Christian Nelson ; and 14 great grandchildren: Shelby Peranich, Owen Peranich, Lacy Moran, Caroline Peranich, Christopher Peranich, Emma Clare Peranich, Evyn Peranich, Katie Peranich, Lilly Peranich, Aislyn Leary, Abigail Leary, Camille Clare Leary, Laura Clare Holloway and Thomas Holloway, Jr.
Laura was a deeply compassionate and spiritual person-serving as a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church of Long Beach for over 60 years. She had a lifelong passion for music and was a member of the Biloxi Music Club and the ""Sweet Adelines"" ladies choir. She was a retired licensed real estate agent.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, February 15, 2012, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, Long Beach, at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. with recitation of the Rosary at 10:15 a.m. Private committal services will be held.
The family expresses a special thank you for the compassionate services of Camellia Home Health and Hospice, allowing Mrs. Creel to remain at home with her family.
