Larry L. Wilson of Long Beach, Mississippi passed away peacefully on January 9, 2024 in Gulfport, Mississippi with his family at his side. Larry was born on April 20, 1947 in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
Larry was preceded in death by his beloved son, Eric L. Wilson, and his parents Kenneth and Beulah Wilson.
He is survived by his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 56 years, Kathy Wilson, their children Aaron Wilson [Aimee] of Long Beach, Mississippi and Scott Wilson [Tracy] of Apple Valley, Minnesota; siblings Denny Wilson [Lesa] of Missouri Valley, Iowa, Janis Marshall [John] of Ritzville, Washington and brother-in-law, David Holsapple of Council Bluffs, Iowa. In addition, numerous nieces and nephews. Also in addition, former daughter-in-law Marci Wilson of Gulfport, Mississippi. He is also survived by his six grandchildren Alexis, Carter, Sullivan, Evan, Sophia, and Kourtlyn.
Larry was a veteran of the United States Navy and served as a Corpsman with the Marines during the Vietnam War where he was awarded a Purple Heart.
Larry was employed at the Gulfport and Biloxi Veteran’s Administration for many years and also the Armed Forces Retirement Home.
After retirement, he enjoyed woodworking, gardening [which rewarded him with many Garden of the Month Awards], but most of all, he cherished watching and cheering on his grandchildren in their various sporting activities. They were the light of his life.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, January 19, 2024, at 1:30 pm in the Biloxi National Cemetery.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2024, from 10 - 11 am at Grace Lutheran Church in Long Beach. The funeral service will be at 11 am in the church. Honors will be provided by the U.S. Navy.
