L. Sidney Charbonnet, III, age 70, of Pass Christian, MS died peacefully Monday, February 13, 2012 after a lengthy illness.
Sid was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. and Mrs. L. Sidney Charbonnet, Jr. (Mona Harper).
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 44 years, Millicent Donovan Charbonnet, and their children; Mona Musser (John) of New Orleans, Sid Charbonnet (Boo Christy) of Pass Christian, Elizabeth Talmadge (Dan) of Dothan, AL, and Millicent Charbonnet of Bay St Louis. He is also survived by his grandchildren; John, Byrne, and Donovan Musser; Christy, Sidney and Mary Lucy Charbonnet; Harper, Elizabeth, Helen, Millicent, and Joseph Talmadge who all affectionately called him Pére.
Sid was a native of New Orleans. He graduated from Canterbury Prep School in Connecticut and Spring Hill College. He received his juris doctorate from Loyola University School of Law, and practiced for many years in New Orleans until retiring and becoming a permanent resident of Pass Christian, MS.
He was an avid boater and cherished the lifestyle of the Mississippi Gulf Coast, especially day and overnight trips to Cat Island. He spent most weekends with family and friends in Pass Christian. He was a member of the Pass Christian Yacht Club, Southern Yacht Club, the Lotus Club, the Stratford Club, the Crescent Club and many other carnival and social organizations. His favorite membership was with his good friends, ""The Twelve Apostles"".
A Mass of Christian Burial officiated by Father Dennis Carver will be celebrated at Holy Family Church in Pass Christian at 2:00 pm on Friday, February 17, 2012 with visitation beginning at 1:00 pm. Burial will immediately follow at St. Paul Cemetery in Pass Christian.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be offered in memory of Sid to one of the following: ALPHA-1 FOUNDATION. www.alphaone.org, or JUVENILE DIABETES RESEARCH FOUNDATION, www.jdrf.org .
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the doctors and staff of ICU and Hospice at Gulfport, Memorial Hospital for the care and compassion he received during his final days.
RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 19130 Commission Rd, Long Beach, is in charge of arrangements.
