Kim Geoffroy

Kim Palmer Geoffroy, age 58, passed away on Tuesday, May 23, 2017, at the home she shared with her husband, Leon Geoffroy, in Haymarket, VA.
Kim was born at the Naval Hospital in Beaufort, SC. She was preceded in death by her mother, Marzelle Palmer. Kim was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. Her family and friends loved her deeply and she will be forever missed by all who missed her.
Kim earned her BA degree at USM Hattiesburg majoring in Adaptive Phhysical Education and Early Childhood Education, and went on to obtain a Master's Degree in Educational Administration/Principalship at William Carey in Hattiesburg. While in high school and college, she volunteered for many Special Olympic events and loved working with the athletes. After obtaining her master's, she was employed at the Job Corps Center in Gulfport, MS as a student counselor, and was active on a part time basis at the Gulfport Memorial Behavioral Health Center as a counselor for troubled teens. After leaving Job Corps, she was employed by Mississippi Children's Home Services as a Foster Parent Trainer. When she moved to Virginia, she worked for Northern VA Family Services as a case manager. After a short time, she and Leon decided to go into business for themselves in the Home Improvement/Repair venue and established their own company, Can Do Contractors.
Talented and creative, Kim loved making crafts, sometimes selling them on Pinterest and Facebook, as well as decorating her home with her creations. She and Leon shared a tremendous love for animals and acquired quite a menagerie including dogs, cats, chickens, ducks, fish, lizards, a pig, a goat, a sugar glider and a pair of hedge hogs. She named each of them and could recognize each by name. She gathered and sold the chicken and duck eggs, and true to her unselfish nature, would always include a fresh baked loaf of bread with each sale.
She is survived by her husband of 12 years, Leon Geoffroy; daughters, Rhianna (Chad) Fackler, Haymarket, VA,and Chelsea (Wesley) Zachary, Greenville, TX; grandchildren, Alanna, Alex, Aiden, Gabby, and Cierra Fackler of Haymarket, and Taylor, Layla, Caden, and Gracelynn Zachary (due to be born Oct 9th), Greenville; father, John Palmer (Janet), Vancleave; sister, Debbie Patton, Hattiesburg; step-sisters, Angele (Freddy) Mills, Vancleave, Stefanie (Keith) Yates, Katy, TX, and Pam (Sebastian) Blanchard, Marathon, FL; many in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and all of her animal babies.
Visitation will be on Thursday, June 1, 2017, from 1 - 2 pm at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 13872 Lemoyne Blvd., Ocean Springs. A funeral service will be at 2 pm in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
