On October 21st, 1931, Kenneth Enoch Trawick became the 1st of 3 sons born to Enoch and Adelaide Trawick in Bay Minette, AL. On April 20th, 2018, Kenneth passed away in Gulfport, MS.
Kenneth is survived by his wife of 67 years, Nita Hall Trawick; brothers Neal (Anne Marie) of Mobile, AL and Cecil (Peggy) of Fairhope, AL; daughter Robin Parmer (Mike) of Gulfport, MS; son Tim Trawick (Melinda) of Magnolia, TX; grandchildren, Melissa, Michael, Scott, Stephen, Matthew, Joel, Taylor and William; and great-grandchildren, Meghan, Gracie, Josh, Patrick, Caleb, Jacob, Violet, Madeline and Gideon. He'll be missed by his special companion of 10 years, Katie, his Boston Terrier.
Kenneth, "Boots" as he was called by his brothers, was a graduate of Baldwin County High School, Perkinston Jr. College and Auburn University. He was a standout athlete and student in high school where he served as president of his senior class and after a tour of duty in the Army, attended "Perk" on a football scholarship. He was among the 1st to be inducted into the Baldwin County High Athletic Hall of Fame.
While at Auburn, Kenneth did Master's research in "Coal Liquefaction" which led to moves to West Virginia and Texas, but in 1981, he and Nita settled in Gulfport, MS after he accepted a position with the Mississippi Army Ammunition Plant at the Stennis Space Center. He was a veteran of the Korean War and served in the Alabama Army National Guard. After retirement he was active in the Lions Club (serving as President) and was an avid reader. He used his carpentry, electrical and plumbing skills on multiple projects and took up Baking (Master Pastry Chef!). He also became quite savvy in learning new technology, particularly digital photography.
Kenneth was the epitome of a "family man" and would tell you one of the most important decisions in his life was to believe in Jesus Christ. He welcomed sharing his belief and did so every day through his life. He knew he was "heaven bound" and wanted everyone, especially his family, to have that certainty. One of his favorite Bible verses was Psalms 27:4 ..... "One thing I ask of the Lord, this is what I seek; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord".
Loving his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, brothers and all his family, was his priority. He told us often how much he loved us and he gave the most wonderful hugs. He was the true definition of a "Gentle Man".
