Kenneth P. """"Mc"""" McCormick, Sr., age 74, of Long Beach, passed away on Friday, January 29, 2010, in Long Beach, where he had resided since 1961.
He attended Delta State Univ. and graduated from Mississippi State. He earned Masters and Specialist degrees at the University of Southern MS. Mr. McCormick taught at Long Beach High School for 27 years and taught at Gulfport High School after retirement. He was member of 1st Baptist Church of Long Beach, enjoyed woodworking, oil painting and making jewelry.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernst B. McCormick and Ruby G. Hollis McCormick Brister.
Survivors include his wife, Margie McCormick of Long Beach, his children, Patty Lincoln (Rodney) of Starkville, Cynthia Boyette (Dale) of Woolmarket, Susan Poolson, of Gulfport and Kenneth P. McCormick, Jr. (Terri) of Daphne, AL; siblings, Louis Edwin Brister, Jeanette Ivie, Beverly Hale, Donald Brister and Lee Brister, all of Texas; grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Madisyn Lincoln, Jessica, Joshua, and Jaclyn Boyette.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 1, 2010, from 5pm until 8pm at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 19130 Commission Rd, Long Beach. Service will be held on Tuesday, February 2, 2010, at 9:45am in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent t St. Jude Children's Research Center, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to the de l'Epee Deaf Center, 1450 North Street Gulfport, MS 39507.
