Kenneth O. Kendrick, born May 9, 1946, of Hattiesburg, MS, passed away on July 31, 2009 in Biloxi.
He was a member of Bel-Aire Baptist Church, Gulfport. He retired from the U.S. Army as a Staff Sergeant after twenty two years of service and was the recipient of the Purple Heart. A former pilot, he loved to fly and was an avid sailer. He was devoted to his wife, children, and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Bonnie Bernice Garner Kendrick, of Wiggins; his grandmother, Elizabeth Garner, of Wiggins, his father, John Garner, of Wiggins; and his son, Kenneth O. Kendrick, Jr., of Biloxi.
He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Mildred Faye Kendrick, of Gulfport; his daughter, Dianna Faye Kendrick Quinn, of Katy, Texas; his son, Kenny Michael Kendrick and his wife, Sherry, of Peyton, Colorado; five adoring grandchildren, Krystal, Brittany, and Aaron Quinn, and Nicole and Ashley Kendrick; his sisters, Betty L. Sellers and her husband, Nolan, of Wiggins, Barbara A. Cartese of Galt, CA, and Karen B. Lee of Wiggins; his brothers, Keith Kendrick and his wife, Carla, of Picayune, MS, David Kendrick and his wife, Lorie, of Gulfport, MS, Dennis Kendrick of Wiggins, MS, and Gary D. Kendrick of Gulfport, MS.
The family wishes to thank the physicians at Keesler Medical Center and the St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital Transplant Team, Houston, TX. A special thanks goes to Dr. Steven Kindsvater at Keesler Medical Center.
A visitation will be held on Monday, August 3, 2009 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11213 Highway 49, Gulfport. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 4, 2009 at 9:00 AM at the funeral home chapel. Burial with military honors will follow at Biloxi City Cemetery.
