Ken's Journey 1949-2019
I have tried and tried to think of what I needed to share with all of you about Kenny. I have written pages of information for 3 days. However, this morning as I was praying, I asked God to tell me what He wanted you all to know about Kenny.
I could have told you that we dated in 1981 for 5 years before we got married on Valentine's Day of 1986.
I could have told you that our first grandson was born on our Anniversary.
I could have told you that Kenny was an avid reader, a great athlete and runner, he played golf, he loved to party and loved to dance, dance and dance. Also, he was a MS State graduate in Forestry with an MBA in Finance.
I could have told you that he worked for Hancock bank (now Hancock Whitney) for 28 years after retiring in 2007.
I could have told you that he and I ran our first Marathon (26.2 miles) in 1992, with his time of 3:16, qualifying him for the Boston Marathon and my time of 5:12 minutes qualifying me for only a t-shirt.
I could have told you that most everyone knew of him because he ran the streets of Ocean Springs for over 30 years starting out as a brunette and evolving into a silver fox.
I could have told you about what a great golfer he was, but then, that would have been a lie.
I could have told you that on October 23, 2018 he was diagnosed with a very aggressive brain tumor, giving him only 2-3 months to live if he chose not to have surgery, which is what he courageously did, and lived to month 8.
I could have told you that 6 days after this horrible news, his mom, whom he loved dearly, suddenly died.
I could have told you how much he loved his 4 brothers, Vic, Mark, Lynn and Billy, and his sister, Ellen.
I could have told you that God gave us a miracle for 3 and a half months, and Kenny actually did get to have the quality life he so wanted.
I could have told you that the entire country, churches, friends, strangers, and pastors have laid hands on him anointing him with oil, have all prayed for him, because they did.
But God said to me this morning on Kenny's 70th birthday, no Gilda, this is what I want you to tell everyone. Tell everyone about the other miracle I gave you.
Tell them about Kenny, your husband who has never believed in me and ridiculed me for years. Tell them I waited for him for 70 years and he finally asked My Son, Jesus Christ into his life as his personal Savior on February 3, 2019, at home sitting on your deck just casually swinging in that old rusty swing.
Tell them how I blessed you by giving you the opportunity as a Christian to baptize him in the shower on May 18, when he asked you to.
Tell them that he is now in Heaven, and tell everyone that they can ask me too, to be their personal Lord and Savior. Oh, and please tell them that they need to do it soon.
It's as easy as ABC and tell them how:
A-tell them to ADMIT they are sinners and ask me, God, to forgive them, and turn their life over to me.
B-tell them to BELIEVE my Son Jesus Christ is their personal savior and I sent him to the cross to die for all of their sins.
C-tell them to CONFESS and believe in their heart that Jesus was raised from the dead and will be back for them, just as I came for Kenny.
THEN TELL THEM IF THEY DO ALL THESE THINGS, THEY ARE SAVED, TRULY SAVED INDEED!!!!!
Oh, and Gilda, tell them NOW!!!!!!!
