Kenneth Richard Bell, age 40 of Gulfport, passed away on Thursday, February 8, 2007 in Biloxi.
Ken's daily confession was II Corinthians 5:17; """"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things have passed away, all things are become new."""" He was a great encourager to all who knew him and his goal was to walk daily in the fruit of the Spirit, these being: love, joy, peace, long suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control. The most important thing to him aside from his relationship with God was being a dedicated husband and father.He also took great pride in honoring his mother.
Ken was preceded in death by his son Bishop Randall Bell and a brother, John McCrey. He is survived by his wife Tiffany Bell and their two sons, Brieyon and Brandon of Gulfport; his mother, Gladiola Alexander; step father, Edward Mattocks Sr.; brother Edwards Mattocks Jr.; of Brooklyn, N.Y., and aunts, uncles, and cousins.
MSgt. Bell was a native of Georgetown, SC and had been a resident of Gulfport for the past 15 years. He was a member of Northwood Christian Center. MSgt. Bell retired after 20 years of service in the United States Air Force, in the 738th Engineering and Installation Unit, where he served in Korea, Japan, Italy and Germany. During his extensive military career, he received the following medals and decorations: Air Force Achievement Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Award, Korean Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and Team Chief of the Year 2003. MSgt. Bell served on several overseas tours in the Gulf region to include: Operation Desert Storm, Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Desert Fox, and Operation Catalyst.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 13, 2007 at 1:00pm at Northwood Christian Center, 14281 O'Neal Road, Gulfport, where friends may visit two hours prior to the service. Burial will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery with full military honors rendered by the United States Air Force.
He participated in various military and church choirs as well as local musicals.
