Kay Gonzales

Kay Sharon Gonzales, age 74 of Biloxi, passed away on Monday, June 5, 2023.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 25 years, Charles Gonzales, Sr.; her parents, James and Emma Newman.

Kay is survived by her sons, Carl (Tammy) Gonzales and Charles Gonzales, Jr.; her brother, Jeffrey Newman; her nephew, Christopher (Kate) Newman and their children, Woods and Hayes; her niece, Caroline Newman; her grandchildren, Amber Peterson, Heather Peterson; her great grandchildren, Gavin and Kenzie; her friends of Krewe of the Seven Seas, Biloxi Mardi Gras Group and Parrot Head Club and her fur babies, Buddy and Cookie.

Born in Munich, Germany, Kay moved many times growing up in a military family.  She moved to the coast about 50 years ago and this has been home ever since.  She was a third-grade teacher who retired from the Biloxi School System. Kay was a charter member of the Krewe of the Seven Seas and Krewe of Harlequins and was also a member of the Parrot Head Club.  She was an excellent seamstress and made many Mardi Gras costumes. She lived life to the fullest and was always the life of the party. Kay loved to shop, cook for her family and friends, and enjoyed taking a cruise whenever she could.  Those who knew her would say she was the epitome of a friend. She loved everything to do with her grandchildren and her fur babies. The family would like to give a special thanks to all of her caregivers and doctors with Memorial Hospital Gulfport who cared for her throughout the years. The legacy that she leaves is centered around loving her family, friends, church and anyone who she encountered.

There will be a celebration of life service for Kay at a later date.
