Katie Jo Ellzey

Mrs. Katie Jo Ellzey, age 81, of Gulfport, passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2012, in Biloxi.
Mrs. Ellzey was born in Marion County, MS to Elbert and Clara Forbes. She grew up on a farm and loved life. She loved her friends and family and had a great sense of humor. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, and traveling with her husband in their RV. She was of the Baptist faith and was a devoted wife and mother. And as the saying goes, ""You can take the girl out of the country, but you can't take the country out of the girl.""
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Carroll Ellzey, and her son, Tom Carroll Ellzey.
Katie Jo is survived by her children, Charles Ellzey and his wife, Beverly, of Daphne, AL, and Danny Ellzey and his wife, Tina, of Diamondhead; 6 grandchildren, Brooke Ellzey, Brandon Ellzey, Andrew Ellzey, Rachael Ellzey, John Ellzey and his wife, Kristel, and Joshua Ellzey and his wife, Lacy; and one great-grandchild, Andrew Ellzey; her siblings, Dimple Compton, Carrie Taylor, and June Mitchell.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2012, at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 274 Beauvoir Road, Biloxi, at 1:30 p.m. Friends are invited to visit one hour prior to services.
Burial will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in Gulfport.
