Kathryn “Kitty” Cobb MacCullagh, age 78 of Long Beach, passed away on Friday, August 9, 2024.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Willard and Kathryn Cobb; her sister, Jean Hoban; her daughter, Carol Ann Kippenhan; her nephew, Bobby Hoban; and her brother-in-law, Bill McGeehan.
Kitty is survived by her loving husband of 30 years, Douglas “Doug” MacCullagh; her son, Ruben (Elizabeth) Bieller; nine grandchildren, Kloe, Ava, Alexandria, Gabrielle, Rebekah, Sierra, Chloe, Kathryn and Lane; three great grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy McGeehan and Carol Celebucki; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, but would later move to New York. She graduated from Scotia Glennville High School in Glennville, NY, and would later obtain her bachelor’s degree from The State University of New York at Geneseo. Kitty would later move to Mississippi, and she attended The University of Southern Mississippi where she obtained her master’s degree. She taught special education in Harrison County, Gulfport, Long Beach, Pass Christian, and would retire with South MS Regional Center. Kitty was an active member of St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church, Long Beach, where she served in the choir, as a worship leader, and as a Senior Warden, and the Diocesan Alter Guild as historian. She was a member of the Magnolia Roses Chapter of Red Hats. Kitty often committed herself to volunteering in her community. Kitty never saw the bad in people. In fact, she pulled the good out of people and encouraged them. She was loved and respected by everyone who knew her.
A funeral service will be held on August 22, 2024 at 2:00 PM at St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church, 310 North Cleveland Avenue, Long Beach, MS 39560.
