Kathleen Wiseman

August 19, 1945 — July 22, 2024

Biloxi, Mississippi

Dr. Kathleen Reynolds Wiseman passed away peacefully in her sleep after a day surrounded by her husband and four daughters.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Helen Reynolds; and her brother, George Reynolds.

Kathleen is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Neil Wiseman; and her four daughters, Michelle Magruder (Ian), Melissa Ferrer (Mark), Wendy Farley (Brian), and Kristin Gilly (Andrew). She is also survived by her sister, Helen Cassell; and her ten grandchildren, Danielle Stewart (Brandon), Morgan, Ryan, Joshua, and Sarah Rumsey, Elise, Colin, Quinn, and Brendan Farley, and Joseph Neil Gilly.

Kathleen graduated from Mt. Carmel High School and received a degree in teaching from LSU. She went on to earn a Master’s Degree and Doctorate Degree in Education Administration. In her many years in education, she was one of the best. When she found a need in Jackson, Mississippi, she opened and operated a Montessori school where her daughters attended. In St. Tammany Parish, she was a second-grade teacher and an administrator for over twenty years. Her passion was helping students who needed extra care and mentoring teachers.

One of her most highlighted accomplishments was helping design and open Pontchartrain Elementary School. She led the school and staff to win the National School of Excellence Blue Ribbon Award. Teachers say she always motivated them to do their best.

A loving and devoted mother, grandmother (Mere), wife, and friend, Kathleen lit up every room she entered. Never missing a Mardi Gras or a chance to Second Line, she brought joy to all those around her. To know Kathleen was to know she always had something positive to say about you. She will be dearly missed by many.
