Katherine O'Brien, age 86, of Gulfport, passed away on May 9, 2017.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George R. O'Brien; her parents, Eula Mae and Walter Smith; a brother, Walter Smith, Jr; and a grandson, Nicholas Curtis.
Survivors include her children, Kenneth Scott O'Brien, Dennis O'Brien, Jack (Nancy) O'Brien, Gidget (Paul) Curtis; 7 grandchildren, Lauren Curtis, Sarah Curtis, Jordan (Colton) Buchannan, Ashley (Chris) Gruich, Blake O'Brien, Josh O'Brien, Melissa Penton, Richard Orr, and Rachel (Charles) Bridges; 8 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
Mrs. O'Brien was retired from Sears as a sales associate and she was a member of Ramsey United Methodist Church and was an active volunteer with the food pantry at Gateway United Methodist Church.
Visitation will be on Friday, May 12, 2017, from 9 - 10 am at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 19130 Commission Road, Long Beach. A funeral service will be at 10 am in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Dr. Tilley and the staff at the Gulfport Care Center, especially Marie, Tangie, and her roommate Joyce, for their care and concern of Mrs. O'Brien.
