Karen Raye Lowery, devoted wife and wonderful mother and grandmother, passed away at her home in Gulfport, MS on April 25, 2007 at the age of 59.
Karen was raised in Sumner, MS and graduated from West Tallahatchie High School in 1966. She was also a graduate of Delta State University in 1970. After graduating, she moved to Gulfport, where she became a teacher and met her husband, Coy """" Tudor"""" Lowery of Petal, MS. She later retired from Harrison County Schools in 2004. She was a member of Bel-Aire Baptist Church in Gulfport, MS.
Karen was preceded in death by her beloved father, Edgar Benjamin Smith.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Coy Lowery; two sons and daughter-in-law, Todd, Bryan, and Stephanie Lowery; her granddaughter, Peyton Lowery; her mother, Dolly Smith; sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Major Treadway; her nieces, Shannon, Amanda and Laura; and three grand nephews, Carson, Luke and Cade.
The family would like to thank Brother Lowry Anderson and his wife, Kandi, of Bel-Aire Baptist Church, for their tireless caring presence and prayers. They would also like to thank their family, friends, members of Bel-Aire, and neighbors for their support during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made in Karen's memory to Bel-Aire Baptist Church Building Fund, 15080 Dedeaux Road, Gulfport, MS 39503.
Visitation will be Saturday, April 28, 2007, from 11 a.m. -1 p.m. at Bel-Aire Baptist Church on Dedeaux Road. Service will be at 1 p.m. at the Church. Burial will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
