Kaleel George "Teal" Salloum, Sr of Gulfport, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on November 1, 2017.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Salloum and Fadwa Salloum; his brothers, Edmund Salloum (Rita, deceased) and Ellis Salloum (Sandra); and his sisters, Melvina LaCroix (Claiborne, deceased), Sadie Marie Hage (Philip), Evelyn Antoon (Ed, deceased), Georgia Bertucci (Bert, deceased) and Gladys Newman (Holye, deceased).

He is also survived by his sister, Gloria Newman (Sam, deceased) and many nieces and nephews and extended family members, all of whom he loved.
Teal was a lifelong resident of Gulfport.  He graduated from St. John High School, and earned a business degree at the University of Notre Dame.  After graduation, he served his country in the U.S. Navy for two years.
Teal returned to Gulfport, where he had a long and successful career in the retail and real estate businesses.
He was active in many civic and business organizations on the Coast.  He was a longtime member of the Gulfport Merchants Association, the Gulfport Rotary Club, and the Century Club, having served as President of each of them. He enjoyed boating and socializing at the Gulfport Yacht Club where he proudly served as its Commodore.  He was a devoted husband and perfect father.  He loved spending time with his family, his large extended family and friends.  His insatiable sweet tooth was the source of many laughs; when asked by his children what was in his safe deposit box, he told them it was full of chocolate.  He was a lifelong member of St. John Parish and a daily communicant at mass at St. John the Evangelist Apostle Catholic Church, Gulfport.
