June Elaine Moody was born on March 10, 1949, in Dayton, Kentucky. She graduated from Holmes High School. She joined the Navy in 1969. While serving, she met her husband, Jim. They were married on March 20, 1971. They eventually settled down in Gulfport, Mississippi with their two children.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Thomas Moody, Sr., Parents Evelyn and Tilma Rose and Father Lindsey Porter. A host of other family and friends that have gone before her are rejoicing and singing with her as well.
June is survived by her son, James Moody Jr. (Robin) of Laurel, MS; daughter, Amijune Cotton (Michael) of Montgomery, Texas; her grandchildren, Emma Moody of Florida and Joshua, Lyndi, Samuel and Elizabeth Cotton of Montgomery, Texas; her brothers, David Porter (Sheila) of Biloxi, MS, James Porter (Juanita) of Walton, Kentucky, Dale Rose (Lori) of Williamstown, KY and Timothy Rose (Shelley) of Burlington, KY.; and many more loving family members and friends.
She was a Navy Veteran, a Navy wife, and she devoted her life to serving and caring for others. She earned her Associates Degree from Phillips College and bachelor’s degree in Business Administration at William Carey College. She also earned her Emergency Medical Technician license and worked with Mobile Medic and American Medical Response. She went on to serve as a Mississippi State Veteran's Service Officer at the Memphis VA. She transferred back to the Mississippi Coast and finished her career of service where she retired from the Biloxi VA.
She was a member of the Nazarene faith and served the Lord in any way she could. She was a Youth leader, children's worker, choir member, board member, District Representative, Reader of the Word of God and prayer warrior.
She is remembered by her family and friends as strong, beautiful, loyal, well-mannered, polite, eager to please, giving, devoted, faithful, fun-loving, funny, spirited, stubborn and sassy. She loved the beach, Mardi Gras, sweets, desserts and most of all her family and friends.
She continually served others until her mind and body no longer allowed her. We are forever grateful to the amazing love and care she received from Village Green Alzheimer's Care Home and Lumicare Hospice in Conroe, Texas. Even when she could no longer talk, her sassy looks, and beautiful smile spoke for her. On Tuesday, February 22, 2022, she was fully restored and healed of Alzheimer's. She now rejoices and sings with our Heavenly Father. She left an amazing legacy of service to others and to the Lord.
