June Hurst Bankston, age 75, of McHenry, passed away on Friday, April 6, 2012.
Mrs. Bankston was an active charter member of Gateway United Methodist Church where she served in various leadership roles. She volunteered with the American Heart Association, the M.L. Tootle Mission, and she enjoyed gardening and animals.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rufus and Minnie Hurst.
She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Jack Howard Bankston, 4 sons, Anthony Howard Bankston and his wife, April, Dennis M. Bankston, Perry R. Bankston and his wife, Susan, and Jeffrey A. Bankston and his wife, Marie, 2 brothers, Clyde Hurst and Rudolph Hurst, 2 sisters, Naomi Bankston and Myrtis Bankston, 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, and numerous other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Sunday, April 8, 2012 from 5 pm - 7 pm at Gateway United Methodist Church, 16020 South Swan Road, Gulfport, MS 39503. The funeral service will be at 12:45 pm Monday at the church where friends may visit 1 hour prior to the service.
Interment will be in Biloxi National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Gateway United Methodist Church in memory of Mrs. Bankston.
