Julius Joseph Remel

Mr. Julius Joseph Remel, of Bay St. Louis, passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2012, in Bay St. Louis.
Mr. Remel was born in Echo, Louisiana to Napoleon and Delia Lacombe Remel on February 6, 1922. He would have been 90 years old on his next birthday. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII touring the Pacific. After his service, he attended LSU and graduated with a BS degree in Forestry. He remained a faithful and loyal LSU fan until his death. He was a retired registered forester, having worked for International Paper Company most of his life. He and his wife, Geraldine ""Gerry,"" traveled the country, visiting every state except Hawaii. He volunteered at St. Ann Catholic Church in Clermont Harbor in many areas, but most enjoyed dealing with the trees.
He was preceded in death by parents, his wife of 60 years, Geraldine ""Gerry"" Griffin Remel; son, Paul Remel; siblings, Lance Remel, Blanche Remel Armond, and Edward Remel.
He is survived by his son, Phillip Justin Remel (Barbara) of Bay St. Louis; four grandchildren, Matthew, Amy, Patrick, and Daniel; and three great grandchildren, Daniel Jr., Catlin, and Leah.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 20, 2012, at St. Ann Catholic Church in Clermont Harbor at 10:00 a.m. Friends are invited to visit 30 minutes prior to services. Burial will follow at Gulf Coast Memorial Cemetery in Bay St. Louis.
