Gulfport

Julie S. Nordan, age 88, passed away April 7, 2022.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Hazel Spillers; her daughter Karla Karen; her grandson, Evan J. Smith; her cousins, Jean Speakman, Lockarts, Foleys, and many other cousins; her good friends Heidi, Phyliss, Sherrie, Ira, Regina and many other friends.

Julie is survived by her loving husband, Curtis R. Nordan, a retired hurricane hunter; her family, Lari and Steve of Gulfport, MS, Stephan Brauchle and Katelyn Broome of Hattiesburg, MS, Danna (Vikki) Smith of Gulfport, MS, Robert (Bucky) and Juliana Boyd of San Francisco, CA, Erick Nordan, Kiera and Kylie Edie of Los Angeles, CA, great grandchildren, Finley and McKenna; and her fur babies, Cobia and Bella.

Julie, as known as Dutchess, was brought into this world at home in the big white house across the tracks from the town Delight, Arkansas. Her grandfather brought the first car to town and started several businesses to start the town. Julie graduated Little Rock Central High School. She had one biological sister, Barbara and one not so traditional sister, Regina Foley of Fort Smith, Arkansas.

Julie had an exciting life that kept her busy. She was always the “Belle of the Ball”. Julie never had a job she didn’t like, which ranged from a window designer to a position working in a morgue. She loved the Arts and enjoyed painting, going to the theatre, and designing floats for the Krewe of Who, which she founded with some great friends in 1979. Most of her beautiful paintings grace the wall of our home.

She raised 5 kids and 2 grandchildren, that Julie claims as her own. She had a good life and was extremely proud of her family. She will be greatly missed.

Julie loved a good margarita. Please join us 5:00 – 8:00 pm, Monday, April 25, 2022, at El Agave on 25th Street, for a margarita in Julie’s name to celebrate her wonderful life.
