Judy Marquez

Judy L. "JuJu" Marquez, age 77, of Pass Christian, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on January 22, 2019.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew Lowery, Billie Herring, and Charles Herring, Sr.; a nephew, Lowery Rinicker; a cousin, Dorothy Morgel; a brother, Bill Henry Herring; and a sister-in-law, Elaine Herring.
Survivors include her children, Maggie (Eric) Wooten, Tracy (Tiana) Marquez, and Bill (Emily) Marquez; her siblings, Connie Rinicker, Charles (Madeline) Herring and sister-in-law, Terri Herring; 5 grandchildren, Mallory Marquez, Shannon Wooten, Phoebe Marquez, Austin Wooten, and Claire Marquez; a great-grandchild, Gabriel Barry; and numerous relatives, friends, and other children.
JuJu was an advocate for all types of wildlife, especially the opossum.  She was retired teacher at St. Paul Elementary School, and coached basketball, softball, and all other sports.  JuJu was an active member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Pass Christian where she participated in all areas of the church including CYO Advisor, Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, Lector, member of the choir, and many years of service to the Saltillo mission in Mexico.  She was currently a member of Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church and was a seamstress and actress for the Bay St. Louis Little Theatre, the WINGS Performing Arts Center at Lynn Meadows Discovery Center, and the Biloxi Little Theatre.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Saturday, January 26, 2019, at St. Paul Chapel, Pass Christian, where friends may visit from 9 - 11 am.
