Juanita Strickland

Juanita Strickland, age 89, passed away January 28, 2022.

She was preceded in death by her father, Holly Carlile; her mother Lila Carlile; and her son, Sam Seay.

Juanita is survived by her sons, Danny Seay (Cheryl), and Wes Strickland (Sheri); her sister, Linda DeParto; her grandchildren, Crystal Meadows (Jeff), Austin Seay (Holly), Georgia Bergeron (Rob), and Mark Hollis; her great grandchildren, Victoria Seay, Allyson Seay, Stella Meadows, Wylder Meadows, Rebekah Rygh, Rily Rygh, Reagan Rygh, Harper Bergeron, and Talyah Hollis; her nieces, Michelle Squillante, Cynthia Wynn (Nathan), and Carolyn Culwell (Jerry).

She was a native of Texas and current resident of Gulfport, MS. Juanita was one of nine children. She graduated high school in Hobbs, New Mexico and later in life she had some computer class training. Juanita worked in the Gulfport area as a bookkeeper, time share and Real Estate saleswoman and community senior center program assistant.

Juanita treasured time with her family and friends. She enjoyed dancing, card games, board games, puzzles, and loved watching and feeding hummingbirds. She supported St. Jude’s charity. Juanita accepted Jesus as her personal Savior and was baptized in the church.

She never met a stranger, greeting everyone with a smile and a hug. Juanita lived by the golden rule. She will truly be missed by all who knew her.

Anyone who wishes to honor Juanita, may do so by contributing to a child’s college fund, your favorite charity, St. Jude’s, or a local ASPCA.

A visitation will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, February 5, 2022, at Bible Baptist Church in Gulfport, 12200 Dedeaux Road. A funeral service will be after the visitation at 10:30 am.
