Today we celebrate the life of our blessed mother, Joyleen Seymour. Joy was born on July 27, 1937 in Biloxi. She was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on April 25, 2022 at the age of 84.
We know the love of her life, Dennis G. Seymour, who was called home on June 10, 2014, after 61 years of marriage, was waiting patiently for her with opened arms. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Nora Hebert and Joseph Edia Longon: her grandparents, Zelmire Landry Herbert and Tanas Joseph Herbert all from Biloxi; ; her brother and sister in law, Thomas and Joanne Longon of Ocean Springs, her sister, Noreen Longon Rambish; and two of her children, David Seymour who passed away on September 11, 2019 and her only daughter, Kathi Seymour Hill who gained her angel wings on July 29, 1997.
Joyleen and Dennis lived a full life on the coast raising their five children. She was dedicated to her faith and her church, St. Michaels Catholic Church in Biloxi, volunteering at St. Michael’s School until Hurricane Camille hit and they relocated their family to Ocean Springs. Her faith had her attending Mass as often as possible with her new and forever church family at St. Alphonsus Catholic church in Ocean Springs. Raising her children, nieces, nephews and the occasional neighborhood kid, kept her very busy.
She is survived by three sons, Dennis Eugene Seymour, Darrell Seymour and his wife Heather, and Dale Seymour; her sister Brenda Longon of Waveland; she was soon surrounded by her grandchildren, Diana Jean Hamel (Conrad), Jeffery Seymour (Jessica), Danny Seymour (Sabrinia Peel), Mark Seymour (Hillary), Alicia Vierling (David), Grant Seymour, (Jonah), Jillian Seymour, Jordan Seymour, (Danielle), Larry Hill (Shelly), Jennifer Kopszywa (Eddie), Josh Hill, Sean Hill (Sonya), Jennifer Hill Blackwell (Donovan); with all the love one family shares, she would soon be surrounded by her great grand children whom she adored, Noah, Jax, Evelyn, Wyatt and Ryder. Aubrey, Braylen, and Ethan. Manuel and Brie, Cody and Makayla and Little Adley, Braylan. Hudson Dean, Kaden, Emily, Madelyn, Ian and Cobi, Gracie and Lily: and also survived by her very special niece, Angela Casey.
Most of the time you could find Mom in her favorite chair reading scriptures and reciting the Rosary. She enjoyed spending time with her lifelong friends and talking on the phone with her close family members. “The Joy of the Lord is My Strength”. Many good times and memories spent together will be our treasures to carry until we see you again. Thank you. Mom, for all you have given us. You will truly be missed.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Dr. Pavlov and his staff, the Dr.’s and nurses at Singing River Health Systems in Ocean Springs, to all family and friends for their love and support during this difficult time, and to the Mavar family for always showing love and kindness to our family.
A visitation will be held on Friday, April 29, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial is celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church on Jackson Avenue in Ocean Springs.
