Joyce Slocum, age 68, resident of Long Beach, passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2009, in Gulfport.
Ms. Slocum was originally from North Carolina. She lived in various places with her military family before moving in 1973 to Long Beach. In Long Beach, she worked in food service before retiring. Ms. Slocum loved gardening and enjoyed her collections of various figures.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Mary Rogers, and her son, Ricky Slocum.
She is survived by her children, Julie Cuevas of Gulfport, Randall Slocum and his wife Rachel of Pass Christian, and Tina Smith and her husband Mark of Gulfport; brother, K.C. Rogers of Supply, NC; 8 grandchildren, Ashlee, Amber, Lisa, Tyler, Steven, Roxanne, Kimberlee, and Carlee; 8 great grandchildren; and 7 nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 20, 2009, at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 19130 Commission Road, Long Beach, at 1 p.m. Visitation will be one hour prior to sevices. Burial will follow at Long Beach City Cemetery.
