Born in Rhea County, Tennessee, daughter of Lester and Mattie Webb, Joyce lived most of her life in Bellevue and Battle Creek, Michigan. She and her husband, Michael were married September 21, 1960. They started their family and had 4 children in all. Together they worked hard and always did the best they could to provide a loving home, and to help other people whenever in need. In 2005, they moved to Hopkins, South Carolina to live with their sons. In 2015, while her husband Mike was ill preceding his death, she moved to Biloxi, Mississippi to live with her daughter and son in law in their home to continue her care.
She was also a previous resident of Battle Creek and Bellevue, Michigan. Joyce earned her GED and went on to beauty school at Wright’s Beauty Academy. Joyce worked as a beautician at hair salons in Battle Creek, but most importantly she was an amazing mother, wife and homemaker! Joyce loved family gatherings, celebrating Holidays, baking/decorating cakes, creating/painting ceramics, crocheting, traveling, camping and doing anything and everything related to family fun and activities! As a couple, she and Mike were avid movie-lovers and they assembled a huge collection and family/friends could stop by and borrow something good! Their family always hosted get-togethers, especially for the 4th of July and the Balloon Festival! She loved music and dancing! She lived for her children and grandchildren! She was blessed to be a part of several great-grandchildren's lives as well! She was an amazing woman who loved everyone and who would give anything that someone else needed! She was incredibly charitable! She always made sure that laughter filled the house and those memories were being made with every moment!
A special thanks to Alvin Hayes, her son-in-law for providing nearly 7 years of personal care for Joyce in our home. Along with her amazing granddaughters/nurses who provided care along with us. Thank you to her sons who took care of our parents for 5 years prior! Thank you to St. Joseph Hospice in Gulfport for providing support and services for 6 years! Thank you to the Medicaid Waiver Program for the years of support. Thank you to Nursing Management for providing in-home assistance as needed. Thank you, MOM, for being OURS!!! We love you!
The family will be planning a Celebration of Life for Joyce for June/July in Bellevue, Michigan, as a Family and Friend Potluck Gathering, just the way she would have liked it! Details will be shared by the family as the plans are determined.
Mom was so giving…so feel free to do something kind for anyone who is in need, or donations can be made in her memory to Huntington’s Disease Society of America. This research is so important to find a CURE! For donations, go to www.hdsa.org
