Joyce Massengill

Joyce M. Massengill, age 84 of Gulfport, passed away on Friday, September 24, 2021.

She was preceded in death by her son, John Massengill; her father, Dan Dearfield; her mother, Nancy Elizabeth Dearfield; her sister, Bernice Petry; and her grandson, Brian Selvage.

Joyce is survived by her husband of 65 years, Arthur Lee “Art” Massengill; her children, Curtis Lee Massengill (Colleen), Wesley Shawn Massengill (Julie), and Elizabeth Ann Selvage; her son-in-law, Michael Selvage; her grandchildren, Julianna, Brinson, Chasity, Cotton, Dixon, Caleb, KellyAnn, Clarice, Nathaniel, Breanna, Chris, Jessica, and Kathi; and her great grandchildren, Mason, Matthew, Michael, Ila, Alice, Bella, Caroline, Antonio, Connor, Finn, and Lily.

She wrote and published three poetry books.  She enjoyed serving Jesus, writing, spending time with family, and putting puzzles together.

Psalm 91:1-2  Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; He is my God, and I trust him.

A visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 2, 2021, at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport.  The funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM.  Interment at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens will be held at a later date.
