Joyce Holston

Dorothy Joyce Holston, age 79, of Gulfport passed away on Friday, May 3, 2019.
Joyce was born and raised in Laurel, Mississippi. She met her husband, Bobby, through her sister, Genell, in Gulfport and were married a short time later. After moving to Gulfport, they opened the first cleaning service on the coast, Supreme Janitor Service, and raised three kids. She was also a part-time hairdresser and continued to run the business after her husband passed away in 1986.
Joyce will be remembered as a nanny, aunt, mother, and grandmother to many children as well as adults. Everyone was welcome in her home; the door was always open and a meal on the table. She was the definition of a true Southern Belle. Her family was THE most important thing in her life. In her words, the last three years of her life were made complete by spending time with and getting to know her great-granddaughter, Remmi.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Lee Holston; parents, Covert and Ruby Rigdon; son Brian Shelby Holston; sister, Genell Rigdon Murray; and brother, Jack Rigdon.
She is survived by her daughter, Tracy (Walt) Vernon; son, Robin Holston; grandchildren, Carly (Amanda) Holliman Wood; Roy Holliman III, Shelbie (Jackson) Roberson, and Olivia (Creed) McCrary; great-grandchildren, Remmi Wood, Scotty McCrary, Jolene and Brewer Roberson.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2019, from 2:00-4:00 pm at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Rd, Gulfport.
