Alice Joyce Williams Grimm, 83, of Biloxi, died July 11, 2010 at her home.
Mrs. Grimm was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Suell Ross Grimm, and her parents, Alice Sims and Marvin Thaddeus Williams.
She is survived by three children and their spouses, Joahan and Jim McDole of Gautier, Ross and Diane Grimm of Ocean Springs, and Jaquelyne and Brad Pittman of Hattiesburg, as well as two brothers, Paul Williams and Curtis Williams, of Hattiesburg.
Mrs. Grimm is also survived by seven grandchildren: Laura Grimm Perry of Biloxi, Courtney Grimm Hatchett of Birmingham, Alabama, Randall Grimm of Ocean Springs, Erin Grimm of Ocean Springs, Randi McDole of Los Angeles, California, Adam Pittman of Hattiesburg, and John Pittman of Hattiesburg. Her five great-grandchildren are Laurie Carter, Slade Perry, Dean Hatchett, Anna Grace Hatchett, and Caleb Suell Hatchett.
Born in Itta Bena, Mississippi, on September 24, 1926, Mrs. Grimm was graduated from Humphreys High School as salutatorian in 1944. After a year at Judson College, she married Suell Ross Grimm on July 29, 1945, and followed her husband to various United States Coast Guard assignments in New Orleans, Louisiana, Detroit, Michigan, Juno and Ketchikan, Alaska, Yorktown and Norfolk, Virginia, Mobile, Alabama, before settling in Biloxi, Mississippi, where she retired from the Personnel Department at Keesler Air Force Base with over 20 years of service.
Mrs. Grimm was active in the First Baptist Church of Biloxi, where she served on the W. M. U. Council and as Girls Auxiliary teacher for many years. She needlepointed one of the pulpit chairs at her church. She enjoyed travelling, needle work, and sewing. She was gifted in making silk flowers and ladiesaÌâ⢠hats as well as repurposing all sorts of furniture and clothing.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Senior Adult Ministry at First Baptist Church of Biloxi.
A visitation will be at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 274 Beauvoir Rd, Biloxi, on Tuesday, July 13, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on July 14, 2010 at the First Baptist Church of Biloxi. Interment will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
